Jury Duty FAQ’s

POTENTIAL JUROR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q.  I am over the age of 70, am I exempt from serving?
A.  This is a practice of larger jurisdictions like, Cuyahoga County, but South Euclid pulls from a much smaller population.  As a result, we do not exempt jurors on the basis of age.
Q.  I served in Cuyahoga County this year, can I serve on South Euclid’s jury in the same year?
A.  Yes.  These lists are mutually exclusive and it is possible to serve twice in one calendar year.
Q.  I have a medical disability that may limit my mobility; what are my options?
A.  South Euclid Municipal Court is located in an accessible facility and we are willing to make accommodations for jurors during the trial.  If you believe that your disability would prevent your civic service, please provide any pertinent information related to your medical condition in the Juror Questionnaire you return.
Q.  How long will the trial be?
A.  Jury Trials have no set schedule; however, most cases are heard and are finalized in the same day.
Q.  I planned a vacation months before I received this summons, do I have to cancel my plans?
A.   Please provide your travel itinerary with receipts of payment related to your lodging and transportation accommodations along with your Juror Questionnaire to the Clerk’s office.  The Jury Commissioners will review it on a case by case basis.
